Nikola is a Vukovi fanThe person that sang the Serbian anthem before the 2006 SELAF Bowl between the Wild Boars and the Vukovi is Nikola Đuričko, one of the most well known actors in Serbia. Besides that, for the last couple of months he has been a TV host for the Karaoke Showdown that airs on Serbia’s B92. In his own words, he is a fan of the sport and also a fan of the Vukovi that plans to be regularly in the stands during the forthcoming season.
What do you think of the practice in SELAF to play or perform the anthem before the game? Are you satisfied with your performance in singing the Serbian anthem?
It’s not a bad thing to make the final even more festive, and since the final was a Serbian derby it was to be expected that our old – new anthem would be performed. Regarding my interpretation, I must admit I didn’t do it the best way I could have, but since I didn’t have anything to compare it to I think it wasn’t bad, the best until now. In any case it was a great honor for me and I was visibly excited.
Do you follow the domestic league or the NFL more?
It’s a great satisfaction to watch the game live, and it’s entirely different to be a part of one game’s atmosphere, than to view it on TV, especially if you’re a fan of some team. And regarding the NFL, for now I can only watch it on TV.
And what is your opinion of SELAF teams?
I’m not an expert to grade, but what I have noticed is that it’s played with heart, that there’s interest and that every year it’s going to be better.
Do you have a favorite team?
Vukovi Belgrade. I am from Belgrade, and that should be reason enough.
Which games did you watch last season?
Unfortunately, because of my engagements only three. Serbia – Slovenia, an unbelievable win, and the Vukovi twice, once a win and once a loss unfortunately.
Do you plan to attend more regularly next year?
Of course.
What is the most interesting thing for you, on and off the field?
The game itself, for starters, then the fact that it’s still a new sport, so normal and different people are in the stands; that you can sit next to a fan of the opposite team without fear of conflict, and of course no folk songs at halftime.
Will you maybe appear on Karaoke Showdown in pads an helmet?
That’s not a bad idea. I’ll try to make it happen.
Do you think it’s possible to make a football themed movie in Serbia?
I’m afraid there’s a small chance for that. War themes are still up, but one day, why not? The only condition is that I’m the main guy.
