The Ljubljana Silverhawks didn’t have much success in their first game of the season, but their next challenge is already this week. And some challenge it is. Their long time rival, the red hot SBB Vukovi Belgrade are coming to town after getting two wins in two games. The game will be played on Saturday, noon CET.
The home team is looking to get their first win of the season and the visitors for a bit more. With the Silverhawks winning the championship last year beating the Vukovi, they are probably thinking about payback. They were not only beaten for the first time in years at home, but also for the first and only time last year. All in all, the Silverhawks are a team that’s been giving the Vukovi the most trouble in recent years, beating them twice.
Being a home game, it should give us a better clue of where the Silverhawks are this season, after making changes on their roster, mostly concerning their import players. The loss in Kragujevac was an away game and against a team trying to make a statement after a tough loss previously. Then again, the Vukovi have been outstanding until now and it might not matter.
Last time in Ljubljana, in 2011, the Silverhawks beat the Vukovi for the first time ever – however they didn’t finish the season very successfully. Last year the tables turned and the Silverhawks won the championship after losing a regular season game in Belgrade.
