Gladiators to host the CEFL Bowl in Vienna

The CEFL Bowl finally moves away from Belgrade, after being played there in 2006 and 2007. Although the Vukovi made the final for the third straight year, they won’t host the Bowl this time — instead the other finalist, the Gladiators, will.

The Bowl is to be played in Austria, and it will be organized by the league, media partner Football-austria the Vienna Raiffeisen Vikings, whose stadium will be used. So, the big game goes to Vienna, on Saturday the 25th of October, from 2PM, at the Vienna Vikings stadium and training center, home of the numerous time Eurobowl winners. Since the Vikings are one of the best Austrian teams, and Austria in general is among the leading European nations in american football, it’s as good as place as any to organize the Bowl.

There is a strong possibility the game will be streamed live over the internet. This, and other possibilities, will be confirmed in the next few days.

Though it’s in Austria, the field is not unfamiliar to many of the, in this case visiting, Vukovi players, as it was officially opened last year for the European Group C Championships in which Serbia participated, and played the third place match on it.

The Bowl is also where all the yearly honors will be awarded. After the final, along with the Bowl MVP award, Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year award, CEFL will for the first time hand out the Excellence Award to one senior and junior player, for achievements on and off the field. The award was established this year.
