Wolves O-Line showed up to playBudapest Wolves - Ljubljana Silverhawks 35:8
05.17.2008
The Budapest Wolves defeated the Ljubljana Silverhawks in a one sided game. The Slovenians arrived to the Hungarian capitol missing some of their starters, leaving their US players at home, although this game was crucial for both teams. The Wolves had to make a statement after their lopsided defeat in Loipersdorf last week, while Ljubljana needed a victory to snap their demoralizing three game losing streak.
The Hungarians scored less then a minute into the contest on a TD run by Lászlo Csizmazia (7:0), who was voted MVP after the game. The Wolves extended their lead in the first quarter on a run by American Khoury Noure (14:0). In the second quarter 19 year old Márk Bencsics passed for a score to Csanád Király setting up the 21:0 halftime result.
After the intermission Norbert Erdélyi ran for a TD (28:0) and then the Wolves’ best offensive weapon this year, Krisztián Piros caught a TD pass from Bencsics to extend the lead to 35 points. Couple of minutes before the final whistle Rok Štamcar scored on a QB sneak, then passed to David Turšič on the two point conversion (35:8).
The squad from Budapest needed this impressive victory very much as they are going to play probably their two toughest games of the spring in the upcoming weeks. Next Saturday there are going to visit the Novi Sad Dukes and on 31st May they are going to host the defending champion Vukovi Beograd at Margaret Island.
