Zagreb once again lost a home game, and once again by a frustrating one point. After Novi Sad, the Budapest Cowboys took the narrow win, leaving Zagreb as the only winless team.
Unlike that game against Novi Sad, where they scored a field goal and a safety, the Thunder have plenty of reasons for regret, as they lost 14-13, missing the extra point on their scoring drive in the final minutes of the game.
In the first meeting between these two teams this season, Zagreb failed to score in the last drive to force overtime, but still managed to score the final 13 points of the game. They continued the scoring trend in the second quarter, taking a seven point lead on Marko Tošić's seven yard touchdown run.
The same player who scored for his team's good start was the one that eventually failed to take them to overtime -- Tošić, the team's receiver, also serves as the kicker and he was the one that missed the kick securing the Cowboys' second consecutive and third overall win.
The Cowboys turned the game around quickly in the second quarter. After Tošić scored, Gábor Jánosi took advantage of the Thunder's turnover, running in for six points, and Bálint Michaletzky completed the turnaround with a 3 yard run.
Just as Zagreb scored 13 points like in the first game, the Cowboys also struggled again in the second half. This time they were shutout completely, but again survived, even though Nikola Crnković caught a touchdown pass from Luka Alaupović late in the game.
Both teams, together with the rest of the league, are taking a break of almost three months, and both continue the season on the first weekend of competition, or on the September the 13th. Zagreb has three games left to try and record a win, and the Cowboys have four.
With this score, the Cowboys don't have a negative recored for the first time this season, but are still two games down on the second place Vukovi. They play them in the final week of the 2008 season.igraju u poslednjoj nedelji.
