The Budapest Cowboys came to Zagreb with their undoubtedly important player in the lineup, but though he played, he wasn’t his usual self, gaining just 29 yards on 10 carries. He did score once, for the game’s first touchdown, but it was Jack Lydic and the Cowboys’ pass attack that beat the Thunder.
After Bynoe’s score early in the second quarter, Marko Tošić tied the game at 7 all, on a 17 yard pass from Luka Alaupović. It’s as far as the Thunder got, with Lydic taking over the game and with his three touchdown passes to Benedek Rácz, Gábor Kalovits and Zsolt Veréb breaking the Thunder.
In total, Lydic passed to 7 different receivers, completing 19 passes out of 26 for 250 yards. Along with his three passing touchdowns, he rushed for one as well, in his best game since the first one against the Silverhawks in Ljubljana.
Krisztián Rittinger closed out the game with a touchdown run, after subbing for Bynoe more than adequately.
As for the Thunder, Tošić scored on a 52 yard field goal, equally impressive as the one in Belgrade last year, but that was pretty much it. Defensive end Aleksandar Kosanović played well, and on the flip side, Luka Alaupović dissappointed, getting himself ejected during the game.
