Eurobowl 2006

On Gabriel Dielacher invitation, the Belgrade Vukovi`s three – team president Goran Nišavić, coach Igor Hofman and quarterback Andrej Tasić, also with Robert Haas, had the opportunity to attend the 20th Eurobowl final game.

The match was played between the Vienna Dodge Vikings and the Flash de la Courneuve from Paris, and the game ending with a convincing 41-9 win by the Vikings.

“The impression of the final is fantastic. The whole event reminded of the NFL final or the NFL Europe final, and I have to say that the Austrians don`t fall behind the Americans in the organizational part. Football is really popular in Austria, the final was aired live on Austrian national television, and the stadium that seats 8000 people was packed an hour before the game started” said Nišavić for SELAF.com. “During the visit, we managed to establish contacts that will in the future help us improve the level of football, both in Serbia and SELAF.”

The final game as a whole, but especially the play itself, made a good impression on the team`s coach. “I`m really thrilled with the whole event, with the Vikings making an especially strong impression. They play great, very simple, but without mistakes, both on offense and defense. The presence of American players shows, and it shows how much they are capable of raising a team`s level of play. QB Atwood and RB Graham impressed me, simply, watching the two of them is a pleasure. After the game we tried to arrange some cooperation with established European coaches and we`re making progress in getting one coach to hold a clinic in Belgrade in November”, says Hofman.

The Vukovi`s quarterback Andrej Tasić, shares his coach`s impressions. “At first I was surprised with how light the French team was, and it wasn`t clear to me how they were able to make it to the final. They were overpowered because of it in the second half, and that`s also why they made some beginner`s mistakes. We had met a great number of people from the world of football, and they are all willing to help. That impressed me even more, because 25 years ago those people started what we have been doing these past 3, 4 years. They still have enthusiasm and fanatical passion for football.”
