Following the last week`s defeat against Kragujevac, the Ljubljana Silverhawks have a chance to gain some redemption this sunday. Beograd Vukovi, who are currently leading SELAF, are coming for a visit, and the Hawks will be looking to avenge their opening day defeat in Belgrade.
This is easier said than done though, for the Silverhawks are going through small crisis at the moment, with many of the leading players still injured. But, as usual, they will not surrender in advance. Rok Grilec, special teams coach for Ljubljana, was cautiously optimistic in his approach.
“The Vukovi are the absolute favourite, but we had proven in Belgrade before that we can fight them, so I expect a difficult match. We will definitely fight as much as we can”, said Grilec.
The defensive coordinator Uroš Valant continued. “The game against Kragujevac showed us where the Silverhawks stand, but we will nevertheless thoroughly prepare for the Vukovi and not just give up even before the game. As in Kragujevac, where our team resisted to the end, we plan to give our hearts out on the field and fight hard until the finish”, stated Valant.
Contrary to the Silverhawks, the guests from Belgrade have gained even more confidence following their easy win against Mitrovica. Still, this game is of special value for coach Igor Hoffmann`s men, as the bout in Ljubljana will represent the first ever abroad contest that Vukovi will take part in.
“Due to some injuries, some players will not attend this first game out of Serbia. The result from the first game and our position on the table should not make us expect an easy game – we will play as if we haven’t accomplished anything yet. I expect an extremely tough game and I hope that we won’t make the same mistakes we made during the last few matches”, said OL Nenad Akšić.
The game will kick off at 10:30 AM, and will be played at Sport Center Alfa field, Ljubljana-Vevče.
