The Vukovi and Hoffmann part ways

Igor Hoffmann is no longer the Vukovi’s coach. After four years of being in charge of the Vukovi, in an agreement with the team he decided to leave the position of head coach.

“To spend four years with one team is really a great thing. We had success, failure, and we went through it all together. I gave as much as I could, everything I had, and considering that in three competition years we played in three finals, won one trophy, I consider these four years to be really successful. I felt it was time to leave the position of head coach of the Vukovi and, of course, that I wish all the best to the team in it’s further development”, said Hoffmann for SELAF.com

Hoffmann led the Vukovi to three finals in as many competitions during the four year span. They won the Serbian Cup in 2005 beating Kragujevac, but lost this year to the same team in the SELAF final game. The two teams met in the Serbian League final in ’04 as well.

Goran Nišavić, the Vukovi’s president, said it’s possible that a coach from abroad will be in charge of the team next year.

“I’d like to say thank you to Igor for everything he has done for the Vukovi. He put in a great amount of energy, not only in the Vukovi, but in the sport as a whole, so I thank him for that in the management’s and the players’ behalf. Our opinion is that there is nobody in Serbia that can adequately replace him, so the players can continue to progress, we will look into bringing a foreign coach. Until then the acting coach will be Zoran Damjanović and our new coaching staff”, said Nišavić.

Damjanović is a former player and captain of the Vukovi who stopped playing after the end of last season, and who became the manager of the Vukovi’s B team. The Vukovi’s first team will continue practicing in January.
