Under the proposed schedule CEFL’s third, but in some ways inaugural, season will start on the 12th of April, or on that particular weekend, with three games. The proposal has been confirmed by all but one CEFL team, so any significant changes are unlikely. Different from previous seasons, where two games were the maximum on any given weekend, games this year will be played on multi-game weekends almost exclusively.
Although the number of teams in the league will be greater for just two teams, the end result is that the number of games has ballooned from 21 to 40 this year. Every team will now play 10 regular season games instead of 7 and the schedule is packed tightly for much of the year; the number of games per weekend goes from two and up to four.
Games in 2008 are scheduled for Saturdays almost entirely, with exceptions given only for special circumstances, like the TV broadcasts that accompanied last year’s playoffs on the territory of Serbia and that are expected again in Serbia for now.
If there are no further changes, CEFL will kickoff with games between the Gladiators and Monarchs, the Thunder and the Silverhawks, and the Dukes and the Cowboys.
CEFL’s usual summer break begins on the last weekend of June and the fall season starts September the 6th. Playoffs will be held from October 11th to October 25th when the CEFL Bowl is on schedule.
