Another test for Hawks

The Ljubljana Silverhawks made a statement a few weeks ago, but the season is not even at a halfway point – or in other words, it’s not over yet. It is clear that they are better than ever, but this week represents a new challenge.

The Budapest Wolves will host the Silverhawks this Saturday in what seems to be the first game that could decide who stays in the hunt behind the Vukovi for first place. Both teams have a loss to their record, and another one would put them likely too far behind… whether or not first place is what they want.

But this game will be mostly interesting to see whether or not the Silverhawks can beat a team like the Wolves. After all, they beat the Dukes convincingly, but they did that last year also. And although they almost beat the Vukovi, almost is not the same as doing something.

And beating the Wolves is something they haven’t been able to do thus far. It can’t even be said that they were unlucky a few times, it was rarely close. Their best shot was the last game between these two teams, in 2008, when they lost by 6 points in Ljubljana.

After having such a good start to the season, it’s difficult to imagine a blowout though, like they had suffered in almost every game in the past. The game kicks off 3:30PM, Saturday.
