Vukovi – Wolves, like in good old days

Belgrade Vukovi and Budapest Wolves will add new chapter in their great rivalry on Saturday 29th May, when they meet at Ada Ciganlija Stadium in Belgrade with TV broadcast on Arena TV starting from 16h CET.

Tale of these two teams has started in 2007, when in second edition of then-called Southern-European League of American Football (SELAF) clashed twice, with final match being the last in the season and was decided in a thriller at Ada stadium by two late TDs that sealed 28-27 win for Vukovi.

This season, Budapest was the host-city of their first battle, and visitors fought hard to 21-31 victory after two early TDs by their defenders, Ivan Nedeljkovic’s interception returned to the endzone and Milos Todorovic’s fumble recovery for 0-14 lead. Until Uros Jovanovic’s rushing touchdown in 4th quarter Wolves hoped they’ll cause first defeat of Belgrade team in this season, but now will face toughest task: they will try to do that at Ada stadium, where Vukovi never lost a game.

“Sincerely, I can’t wait for that game”, said reigning Defensive MVP Miloš Lišanin for CEFL website.

“Budapest Wolves are our rivals for so long, and despite we are playing quite good this season, I know they are coming to Belgrade to became first team that will defeat Vukovi at our own ground. But, Ada is our house, and we’ll do our best to prevent their celebration. Every single team that visits us have that, same goal, but Vukovi are interested just in one thing: victory”, said Vukovi’s defensive end Miloš Lišanin who finished Season 2009 with 39.5 tackles, 13.5 for loss, 11 sacks and 3 forced fumbles – before playoffs.

Vukovi and Wolves will fight for the first place in playoffs, as if visitors succeed to be victorious be more then 10 points – they’ll finish above Vukovi in final standings. A lot of stake in this game. Don’t miss it.
