Patriots get a new coach

Following in the footsteps of the Vukovi and the Silverhawks, the CEFL’s youngest member , the Zagreb Patriots, have signed Mike Mitchell as their new head coach.

Mitchell coached at the college level for twenty-two years (Humboldt State, De Anza) and also coached in high profile high school programs in the United States. He is most recently coming off four Championships in the past six years at Sandpoint High School and was named Coach of the Year in 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010.

“I am particularly impressed with the friendliness of the people I have come in contact with in Croatia and my wife Gail and myself are excited to learn about the country and teach the game of American Football. It is a wonderful game and it is a fun sport for fans to get involved in. We hope to make some contribution to Croatia’s wonderful sports culture.”

He has until now already taken part in several team practices, and also a try-out. Although the newest CEFL team, it’s not 100% right to say they have no CEFL experience. They are the second team from Zagreb, and some of their players already played in the league. Not very successful at that time, to say the least, but the signing of the new coach is one of the proofs they should be a more serious contender in the CEFL.
