The Zagreb Patriots host the Cineplexx Blue Devils on Saturday from 2PM CET in Zagreb. The opponent they await is the next to last team in the standings. The problem is however, that the Patriots are one step below.
When they joined the league, they must have had different plans, but in the end, they are firmly on the bottom of the standings. A possible loss would be their fifth and they would be officially eliminated from the 2012 season. And although they had some bright spots early on, it’s been all downhill for them, especially in the last two games.
The opponent is on the other hand maybe a bigger disappointment. Standing at just 1-3, the Blue Devils were expected to compete as they did in 2009, when they reached the bowl game and recorded just one regular season loss. Like Zagreb, they’ve had some bright spots, and more, but they have struggled to consistently match the level of play the other top teams have shown. The last two losses, including one at home, against the Silverhawks demonstrate that.
It may not matter if they can reach the playoffs. since all teams start with the same record: 0-0. They officially will, if they win in Zagreb. Considering all that’s been shown this season, probably the likely outcome. A possible win for the home team, would make the end of the season super interesting and the last game, the one postponed a few weeks ago, would now be very relevant.
