Wild Boars to host Wolves

The PBB Kragujevac Wild Boars host the Budapest Wolves on Saturday from 1PM. The game will be played on Kragujeac’s largest stadium – Čika Dača – and it could put the visiting team on the verge of being out of contention for the CEFL Bowl.

Largely because of the standings, with the Wild Boars at 2-1 and the Wolves at 0-2, but also because the Wild Boars already won in Budapest this season, and quite convincingly at that. In case of a win, the Boars couldn’t finish worse than the Wolves best possible score, and holding the tiebreaker. It was to an extent a historic game, with almost 500 yards of passing and 55 points total for the Wild Boars. Still, the main person behind that, former quarterback Stan Bedwell, is now injured and off the team.

The game should be the expect debut of the new quarterback Santino Simone, who arrived in late April. The team actually performed well in the one full game without Bedwell, but it was obviously the team lacked the confidence to compete for a championship this year without an import quarterback.

In their three games, the Boars played just one game until now at home, winning against the Silverhawks three weeks ago.

It’s questionable if the Wolves have a chance in this game, but at least they can say they are unbeaten in Kragujevac. The teams met just once there in 2007, with the Wolves winning, in what was the worst season in Wild Boars history. But things look much different now and anything except a Wild Boars’ win would be a huge surprise.
