Kriesien repeats, Lišanin wins his third Player of the Year award

The SBB Vukovi Belgrade will host the CEFL Bowl VIII with two of the best players in the CEFL. At least for this year. Lance Kriesien repeats as best offensive player and Miloš Lišanin wins his third such trophy for defensive players after a two year break.

Unlike last year when Kriesien finished as the league’s leading passer and runner, he finished as number two on both charts. He passed for 1268 yards and ran for 487 along with 18 total touchdowns, 11 through the air and 7 on the ground.

He receives the award in front of Henry McVay, receiver of the Wild Boars and league leader in touchdowns scored with 11. League leaders in passing and receiving, Keith Lockwood of the Silverhawks and Anthony Washington of the Vukovi curiously failed to receive votes.

Miloš Lišanin’s selection was as dominant as it was possible, since he received all the votes except the vote from his own coach, who couldn’t have voted for him even if he wanted to. He probably did want to vote for him as Lišanin led the league’s best defense with 30.5 tackles, 11 of which for loss including league leading 7 sacks, 1 forced, 5 recovered fumbles and a touchdown.

Lišanin won the award in 2009 and 2010. His 33.5 sacks in the last six seasons are a CEFL record. The only other player to receive a vote was Đorđe Petrović of the Wild Boars, who was one of three players to record three interceptions this year.
