The Wild Boars and SBB Vukovi have met for the twentieth time in their histories on Saturday and the score is now tied at 10-10. Again broadcast on SportKlub TV, the long standing rivalry game was far from disappointing.
Like the first matchup three weeks ago, the scoring was opened with a Wild Boars field goal. SBB Vukovi knew they couldn’t respond in like with all of their kickers injured, so they raised the stakes in the very next play with Tony Washington returning the kickoff for a touchdown. That play and a drive late in the first half that ended with their quarterback Shaun Rutherford’s rush for a touchdown was all that was seen by SBB Vukovi until the intermission. On the other side of the field, the Wild Boars offensive line had a field day keeping their quarterback clean. Ike Whitaker returned the favor by scoring twice, first rushing for 10 and then passing for 51 yards to Filip Nedeljkovic. The score at the break was 16:12.
Scoring has continued in the last period with Wild Boars’ Ken Hale punt return for a touchdown for 55 yards, followed by SBB Vukovi’s Rutherford pass to Vanja Lugonja for 35 yards. Then Wild Boars’ jack of all trades, Shane Wong, kept his team going by breaking two tackles after catching a short pass by Whitaker to score another touchdown. SBB Vukovi had enough time only to reduce the point difference with a second rushing touchdown by Rutherford. The final score stood at 30:24.
The Wild Boars have climbed to the top of the standings table with 2 wins and a loss by SBB Vukovi. However, they have the upper hand in these matchups which could prove to be very important after Silverhawks’ win against SBB Vukovi. The season is far from over and it’s been a long time since it was this exciting and undecided.
