Novi Sad GAT Dukes quash Nis Imperatori team’s efforts in its first CEFL showing. The Vojvodinians rebounded after a tough loss last week against the arch rival from Belgrade.
Proving themselves as strong favorites GAT Dukes jumped to an early lead by Luka Beljanski intercepting Imperatori’s very first drive and returning the ball for a touchdown. Adding to that Bosko Jokic rushed for a 7 yard score. Imperatori answered with a 7 yard rush for a touchdown of their own over Denis Ikic. Unfortunately for them, it was all they could do. Drew Banks, GAT Dukes’ quarterback took over in the second quarter with two touchdowns to Andrej Puskas and Davor Soldo to put the score at 6-29.
In the bottom half of the game it was interesting to see GAT Dukes score touchdowns from all three phases of the game. The offense led the way with Dusko Pokrajac rushing for a 7 yard score. Their defense took it from there when Goran Zec returned a fumble for a 70 yard touchdown. Special teams dotted the I by Srdjan Skala’s return of a blocked punt for 40 yards and the final score of 6-49.
