In the Western Conference, Projekt Spielberg Graz Giants defeat Ljubljana Silverhawks by 23-7 and win the right to host CEFL Bowl XI on 3 July.
In the Eastern Conference SBB Vukovi have overpowered Budapest Cowbells with the score 52-36 that promotes them to the Wild Card. Home team’s quarterback, John Uribe gave a great performance again with 5 passing touchdowns. All of them were to amazing Anthony Washington, who scored once more on his own from the very first play of the game, returning Cowbells’ kickoff for an 80 yard touchdown.
Visitors tie the score with Tamás Váry’s 40 yard passing touchdown to Zoltán Zsikla. Uribe to Washington combo connects again for two scores of 35 and 20 yards. Belgraders’ Vladimir Dimitrijević ends the first quarter with a field goal. In the second period Uribe locates Washington two more times for touchdowns of 45 yards and the scoreboard stops at 38-7.
Cowbells wake up after the intermission and answer with two touchdowns of their own. Váry targets Zsikla for a 30 yard score, followed by Péter Cseperkáló’s 15 yard rush into SBB Vukovi’s end zone. American connection of Uribe and Washington counters with an 18 yard touchdown and Krešimir Gorša ends SBB Vukovi’s scoring session with a 30 yard rush over the Cowbells goal line. Before the end of the game guest team’s quarterback, Váry finds his targets, Kocsis and Magyar for touchdown passes of 25 and 30 yards.
In the Central Conference finals, Patriots knock out Alp Devils by 40-19 and prepare to travel to Belgrade on 18th June to play the Wild Card.
On Alp Devils’ first drive Patriots’ defense intercepted a pass by Nejc Lebar end scored. Patriots’ offense managed to score twice in the first half as well, with rushing touchdowns by their running back, John Holloway. Alp Devils answered with a 30 yard run by their own running back, Rok Milek that got them 15 yards away from opponents’ end zone, where quarterback Lebar led them with a pass to Peter Skubic. Alp Devils’ wide receiver was also the star of his team’s unlikely second touchdown. Patriots’ defense intercepted a pass in their rivals’ end zone, but Skubic ripped the ball from safety’s hands and scored. At the half, the scoreboard stood at 13-19.
After the intermission, Patriots stole the game by intercepting Lebar three times, scoring as many rushing touchdowns over Holloway. Alp Devils softened the blow with a 25 yard touchdown pass by Lebar to Gašperin.
Second game in this conference also goes to away team, Sarajevo Spartans who beat Domžale Tigers by 38-29.
