In the Wild Card game, Belgrade SBB Vukovi have welcomed Zagreb Patriots. The game was broadcast live on regional Sport Klub television. It was a game of high stakes, because the winner advances to play in the finals on July 3 in Graz.
Consistency in the display of skill was more evident by one of the teams from the onset. In the first minute, after a 65 yard catch by Nikola Simović that ended near the Patriots’ goal line, SBB Vukovi’s quarterback John Uribe scored a rushing touchdown from the 1 yard line. Croatian international in the Belgraders’ ranks, Kresimir Gorša, took over next with a pair of rushing touchdowns, scoring from 1 and 11 yards. In the second quarter, Uribe connected with Vojin Milic for a 16 yard touchdown and a score of 28-0 at the break.
In the second half two more runs by Gorša of 1 and 18 yards finished in the end zone of the visiting team. Uribe closes the scoring for the day by adding another touchdown with an 8 yard pass to Vanja Lugonja and the final 49-0. The general consensus after this game is that SBB Vukovi’s will most certainly have a much more difficult task against Projekt Spielberg Graz Giants in CEFL Bowl XI.
