This season the new format of the League has included more teams and divided them in two separate competitions. CEFL Cup is split in two regional groups. Eastern group has kicked off the season last week, while the Western group’s teams still have a blank slate in their scores page.
The rearrangement has not affected the rivalries though, because the composition of Western group has stayed almost the same as last season’s Central Conference. Teams in this group will again play each other twice during the season.
This Saturday, Kranj Alp Devils welcome Sarajevo Spartans, a well-known and tough opponent to them. The Slovenians have new fire power from across the ocean, embodied in quarterback Tanner Bachand. Meanwhile, Sarajevo Spartans have two “import” players, quarterback Caleb Hecox and an offensive lineman Cameron Dickerson.
Third and last team in this group are Zagreb Patriots, champions of last year’s Central Conference. They will host the Alp Devils in their first game of the season in two weeks.
