Western Group of CEFL Cup advances this Saturday when Sarajevo Spartans play host to Zagreb Patriots. The game is played on the historic stadium “Koševo”, the location of the 1984 Winter Olympic Games opening ceremony, among many other important sporting events.
Both teams are looking for a first win after losing to Kranj Alp Devils in their opening weeks. They’ve managed to score a touchdown each against the Slovenian team. That might be a good indicator of their offenses needing more work.
Spartans might be helped in that respect by quarterback Caleb Hecox and offensive linemen Cameron Dickerson. The Patriots have opted with shoring up their offensive line with international players, Larry Nitka, Jedrzej Rudnicki and Fabian Vulić.
A win in this game will be of crucial importance for both teams. Losing team will dig itself into a hole with a small likelihood for the top spot in this group. The winner will have a much better chance to bounce back and put themselves in a position to play for the CEFL Cup title.
