After closing the application period for interested teams, it’s time to announce the participants and the playing schedule of CEFL Cup. Determined to grow the Cup into a competition for top notch teams, CEFL has selected four heavy-hitters.
Avid followers of CEFL have noticed one name missing from the list of participants of CEFL Championship announced earlier. As one of the founding teams of CEFL, Belgrade SBB Vukovi have never missed a season so far. This time, they will be featured in CEFL Cup as the semifinalists of the national competition.
Budapest Cowbells are also well-known to the fans of CEFL from the past two seasons of the Championship. They were the winners of the top national league in Hungary last season. Their status will certainly bolster the Cup’s competitiveness.
In addition to the two familiar teams, there are also two newcomers. Gdynia Seahawks as the Polish league finalists are one of them. Another national league finalist is rounding up the completion. Hailing from Sakarya in the Asian side of Turkey, Tatankalari are making the Cup not only international, but intercontinental too.
CEFL Cup games will be played the following dates:
29 April Gdynia Seahawks – Budapest Cowbells
12 May Belgrade SBB Vukovi – Sakarya Tatankalari
The finals will be played on 9 June and the hosting city will be decided between Budapest and Belgrade. With the final game of the Championship, CEFL Bowl XIII, being played the same day, CEFL supporters are in for a double treat.
