Curtain falls in Novi Sad
Wild Boars` triumphant trip to Belgrade last week resolved the Gordian knot of SELAF finals placing, so this week`s game in Novi Sad will have no competitive significance after all. The Dukes will attempt to finish the season with a positive record, while the Ljubljana Silverhawks are looking to book their second ever win on Serbian soil
Mitrovica earns first win
The Legionaries didn`t finish the season without a win after all. They defeated the Silverhawks in Ljubljana 12-0 in their last match of the season, therefore getting even with the Slovenian team for a dramatic loss in the first part of the season,
Tasić injured, will miss the final
Belgrade`s best, and one of the league`s best players quarterback Andrej Tasić, will miss the last game od the year - the league final. He was injured in the last game of the regular season against the Kragujevac Wild Boars when he was hit by Marko Obradović hurting his knee
No Tasić, no win for the Vukovi
An injury for the Vukovi’s best player was too much for this team to overcome. The Kragujevac Wild Boars defeated the Vukovi for the second time this season, and that’s a win that guarantees them an appearance in the league final. Quarterback Andrej Tasić got injured in the team’s first possession, and the Boars took advantage intercepting backup Nemanja Petković twice in the first quarter, jumping to a 14-0 lead they kept throughout the game
Pride at stake as Silverhawks and Legionaries play it out
Both Silverhawks and Legionaries have, de facto, finished their respective seasons a while ago. Still, the sunday`s game in Ljubljana will not be fully bereft of passion and effort - the Silverhawks will look to notch up one last home win before the curtain falls, while the Legion is still searching for that elusive first victory in SELAF
Vukovi clinch their place in the final
The Belgrade Vukovi are the first finalists of this years SELAF. By winning in Ljubljana 21-0 over the Silverhawks, Vukovi secured their place in the final, regardless of the outcome of their last match and also results of any other matches. Their second win over the Silverhawks this season, came easy and convincingly, with an early lead that they kept throughout the game
Dukes rout Legionaries, inch closer to the final
Seems like the Vojvodina derby remained that only on paper. In a rather one-sided game, the Dukes trounced the Legionaries with convincing 44-0
Upbeat Dukes looking for a win at Kuzmin
As expected, the Legionaries will return to Kuzmin. Following the organizatorial success of their last game there, the side from Mitrovica will again use the FK Graničar field as their home turf. The guests will be coming from nearby, as this Sunday the Legion is due to entertain the Novi Sad Dukes
Silverhawks looking for an upset
Following the last week`s defeat against Kragujevac, the Ljubljana Silverhawks have a chance to gain some redemption this sunday. Beograd Vukovi, who are currently leading SELAF, are coming for a visit, and the Hawks will be looking to avenge their opening day defeat in Belgrade
One of few
Vice-president of the team from Novi Sad is Zorica Simić, one of few women in American football in this region. Dukes are one of the most pleasant surprises this year, with a realistic chance of playing in the final, something not many believed before the season started
