The following weekend brings us more SELAF action, this time in shape of two games played in Serbia. In Kragujevac, the Wild Boars will host their first-ever SELAF game against the Novi Sad Dukes, while up north the Legionaries will go for their first win, the opposition being likewise winless Ljubljana Silverhawks.
Clear favourite for the sunday game in Kragujevac are the local Boars, but a stiff resistance is expected from the Dukes, who almost stole one away from the Vukovi last weekend in Novi Sad. Both teams are in excellent shape, which promises for an exciting matchup, and the interested parties should head to “Čika Dača” stadium in Kragujevac, where the kickoff is scheduled for 15:30.
Fireworks are expected on saturday in Mitrovica as well, where the local Legionaries will host the Ljubljana Silverhawks. The Legionaries are entering this game with a new board of directors and a new head coach – Goran Stojanović, formerly the offensive coordinator – and fittingly, the game will be played at a new ground, namely the Podrinje stadium in Mačvanska Mitrovica, which is a casual walk away from downtown Sremska Mitrovica. Legionaries might be forced to play this one without their QB Srboljub Radanović, who is still being treated at a hospital.
Legionaries GM Ramazi Inaišvili expects a good game and a good show for the crowd, while adding that it`s high time for his boys to notch one up in the “W” column. “We invested a lot of time and effort in prepping our team for this game. I won`t predict the outcome here, but we`ll give it our best shot to try and dispell the prevalent negativism which is surrounding our team in the media”, stated Inaišvili for SELAF.com.
Luka Fabijani, Inaišvili`s Slovenian counterpart, is preaching caution instead. “In a way, this game reminds me of our beginnings, as the roster will contain many rookies”, says Fabiani, while adding that he`s definitely hoping for an upset despite their youth and relative inexperience. This game is slated to begin at 16h.
