North and south collide as SELAF resumes play

Curtain-raising duties for the second half of the inaugural SELAF season have been handed out to two veteran sides of Serbian american football, Kragujevac Wild Boars and Sirmium Legionaries. The game is scheduled for sunday 13th of August, with kick-off being given at 17h.

Expectedly, the role of favourites is assigned to the Boars, who along with Belgrade Vukovi lead the league in winning percentage with only one defeat during the first round. That confidence is running high in Kragujevac comes as no surprise, especially after hearing what one of their defenders, Darko Cvetković, had to say.

“We respect the Legionaries, as they`ll be coming here with winning aspirations. Still, I believe we have a better team right now. We trained hard during the summer break, and improved in many segments of the game. Don`t expect any surprises on sunday”, stated Cvetković.

Head coach Vujica Samailović just reiterated the high goals his team has set at the beginning of the year. “Our goal is the title. We have four games left to establish ourselves as the best side in Serbia, and we won`t accept failure. Our squad is worthy of a championship title”, said Samailović.

The visiting side comes with a burden of pressure, considering that their season would be, for all intents and purposes, effectively finished with a defeat on Sunday. Another loss would mathematically eliminate “the Legion” from competing for the highest placings, thus sealing their fate for this year. As usual, the Legionaries will threaten via their running game spearheaded by Zoran Lončarević, but the rest of the team must give him some form of support if victory is expected.

The entrance fee for the sunday`s game is set at nominal 50 dinars, with the direct TV broadcast also available through local TV Kragujevac.
