Vukovi continue to dominate

The SBB Vukovi Belgrade conquered another city and team this year, beating the Silverhawks in Ljubljana. After games against Kragujevac and Budapest, the Vukovi once again scored over 40 points on their way to a big win.

Also similar to the first two games, the visiting team dominated the first half, essentially securing the win already at that point. The quarterback-receiver duo of Lance Kriesien and Anthony Washington was unstoppable today, combining for two touchdowns. Kriesien passed for four touchdowns and ran in for one. Washington caught three in total, one from backup David Lukić, and also returned a punt for a score.

The Vukovi’s defense also had a dominant performance. All of the points came in the second half when the game was already quite out of reach. It is their second first half shutout of the season. They allowed only three first half points in the first three games. Linebacker Paul Wright recorded his third interception of the season, Sava Petrović his third fumble recovery and two-time defensive MVP Miloš Lišanin another multiple-sack game on his resume.

It could’ve maybe been different, but the Silverhawks got picked off twice with the game scoreless in the first quarter, once in the endzone. The Vukovi had some problems of their own, but still had four scores for a 29 point first half lead. Kriesien passed twice to Washingon, once to Marko Marić, and had a rushing touchdown.

Washington continued in the second half, returning a punt for a touchdown, that put the score at 0-36. He was at it again, after Bojan Justin finally caught a touchdown for the home team – David Lukić hit him for a 70 yard touchdown and the fourth time he made it to the endzone.

Jan Jakus and Natic Mocnik scored one apiece for the Silverhawks as did Mario Lugonja on another Kriesien pass for the final score of 22-49.
