Wild Boars win, secure bowl appearance

The PBB Kragujevac Wild Boars survived a rocky start in Ljubljana and in the end won 14-27 to secure their second CEFL Bowl appearance.

The score was almost the exact same as in the first game between these teams. The Wild Boars won 27-13 in Kragujevac and it was this point differential that the Silverhawks needed to overcome to qualify for the bowl.

They started off well, but the Wild Boars defense’ took the air out of their sails with two interception returned for touchdowns. Keith Lockwood started of well with a 65 yard touchdown pass to Matic Tomše; he was then however intercepted by the Boars’ veteran leader Predrag Šćekić. Even worse for the Silverhawks, he tied the score with a touchdown.

The third and fourth touchdowns of the game were almost a carbon copy. Lockwood gave his team another lead, finding Tomše again, but was then intercepted by Henry McVay. McVay showed why he is one of the leading receivers and scorers in the league, going over 60 yards to the end zone.

With the game tied at 14-14, the Wild Boars finished the Silverhawks off in the second half. Stefanović ran in for a two yard touchdown for what was maybe the finishing blow. Later, he connected with McVay for a 75 yard touchdown and the final score of 14-27.

The Wild Boars will play in the CEFL Bowl in Belgrade on the 7th of July, 4.30PM against the Vukovi.

The SBB Vukovi Belgrade beat the Budapest Wolves 48-12 this weekend and completed their undefeated season. Backup David Lukić saw more playing time at quarterback and finished with two touchdowns. Anthony Washington had another kickoff return touchdowns, his third in two games.
