The second game of the CEFL Championship quarterfinals was played on the shores of the picturesque Geneva Lake. Thonon Black Panthers have hosted Badalona Dracs, setting a rapid pace from the outset and establishing a big lead in the first half. The Spaniards have found their footing after the break, winning the last quarter but it was all too little, too late.

The home team expressly scored three touchdowns and never looked back. Their first one came when quarterback José Tabora lobbed the ball to tight end Odell Turnbull, 7-0.

A long punt return placed the ball back in Tabora’s hands on the short field. He closed in with a pass to Benjamin Lolmede and then looked to Turnbull in the end zone for 14-0.

The visitors responded with a deep throw to the opposing maroon zone. Right as they went for the strike, Timon Debiez intercepted the ball and went the distance to the other side, 21-0.

Next time Tabora tried to go long to the scoring area, Tom Gabarro Maristany picked him off, allowing his offensive teammates to take the potato off the scoreboard. They couldn’t find their way across the goal line but the field goal by Jan Ladero Vera was good, 21-3.

Before the intermission, Tabora extended the drive by connecting with Turnbull again, and then put the finishing touch pass in Lolmede’s hands, 28-3.

The Dracs responded in the third quarter. Running back Keshawn Williams sprinted through the middle and broke a tackle to spin into the end zone, 28-9.

They didn’t manage to force their will on the Black Panthers though. The home team quickly upped the score once more over their own tail back, Lucas Davoine who hurried home for 34-9.

French team did it again in the last period. A high-arc pass from Tabora to Pierre-Yves Dayres stopped the ball on the rival’s 1 yard line and Davoine danced in, 41-9.

The final score was set by Dracs’ QB Sergi Gonzalo Arango engaging with Oriol Adria Lombarte on a touchdown and a 2 point conversion, 41-17.
