Sixth sense

The Vukovi opened the most important game of the season with a kickoff return touchdown — the score was called back due to penalty, but they wasted little time and scored on the same possession with a touchdown pass from quarterback Jordan Green.

This time the Budapest Wolves managed to answer just before the end of the first quarter on a bootleg pass from quarterback Attila Lendvai to receiver Csanad Kiraly. After the score defenses took over the game and even though both teams had successful, long drives in the first half the points did not come.

In the third quarter the Brandon McDowell scrambled through the field on a 35 yard run that put the Vukovi ahead by 7 — it turned out for good.

On the next possession the Budapest Wolves lost its two starting receivers. Csanad Kiraly was injured during the ensuing kickoff return and Krisztian Piros was ejected from the game because of unnecessary roughness. In general, the game was one of the most penalty full games this season, including three ejections, two for Belgrade and one for the Budapest team.

In the fourth quarter Budapest Wolves defense successfully stopped the Vukovi to pull away with two scores and gave the Wolves offense plenty of opportunities. Relying mostly on the runs of Laszlo Csizmazia and Peter Cseperkalo, the Wolves built good drives but the equalizer never came. A last minute interception from QB Attila Lendvai closed the door for the home team and Vukovi ran away with the victory.
