Ljubljana Silverhawks will host reigning champions Vukovi Beograd in 2010 CEFL finals.
Match is scheduled for Sunday, July 18, with a kick-off time at 16:00 CET.
This will be Silverhawks’ debut in Central European Football League finals, while Vukovi will play in it for the 5th consecutive time, vying for their third trophy.
Ljubljana’s team has finished the regular season with 3-3 score, and thanking to 31-14 playoff victory over Budapest Wolves earned place in final battle for the CEFL title. Once again they’ll play at FC Livar’s stadium in Ivancna Gorica near Ljubljana, where they’ve won semi-final game.
“Fact that we’ll host CEFL finals is great honor for us, but also a great responsibility. Still, to play for the trophy in front of our own fans, I think that’s every player’s dream. We hope that we’ll succeed to raise popularity of this sport, CEFL league and our club with good organization of finals. In short, this is huge moment for us”, said Uroš Valant, president of Ljubljana Silverhawks, for CEFL web-site.
He added that it’s clear who’ll be favorites for the title, but that his team is living a dream.
“It’s almost unbelievable for us to be in the finals. If I look back several years ago and then realize that we are going to play for the title, I can’t say anything else except that it’s a fantastic feeling. I’m so proud of our players. After our defeat in Budapest (17-13 in Game 3), which came in last minute of that game, I thought that our dreams vanished, slipped through our fingers. But, still, we’ve bounced back and now we are going to play in the finals. Vukovi are, obviously, favorites. They are stronger then ever”, said Valant.
