Reuben Droughns, former NFL running back and now assistant coach at Vukovi Beograd, knows what it takes to gain a trophy. Superbowl winner with NY Giants admits that his current team will have a huge task in CEFL finals.
“This sport is very young here, but I must admit it’s taking giant leaps in recent years. Vukovi are best example. Our team is strong and, even I’m with them just for three or four months, their improvement is quite big”, Droughns said.
Former RB of Detroit Lions, Denver Broncos, Cleveland Browns and New York Giants adds that Ljubljana Silverhawks will be a real test for reigning CEFL champions:
“It will be tough game for us, I’m sure. Silverhawks’ strong running game is their main weapon, and their defense is almost as good as our own. It will be huge battle, but I think that Vukovi have a bit better chance to win the title then the hosts. Our team is strong, guys are working hard and their improvement is really great. I’m sure we’ll all enjoy during the Finals”, he said.
Reuben Droughns is aware that only game experience can cause real benefit for all American football players, and CEFL is a right example for it.
“Several years ago this sport didn’t exist here, and look it now. I’m sure that league like this one is causing players to do their best, to compete at international level and doing so – they’re developing themselves even more. In fact, I think that Vukovi have already shown that they can match almost any European team in this moment. But, of course, you have to prove that on the field every time you step on it. CEFL finals is a right time and place for that”, Droughns said.
